Formula E is an annual event in the month of August hosted by the graduate industrial design department at the Art Center College of Design. The event comprises of 3 races of a remote controlled rubber band propelled vehicle. I was part of a multi disciplinary team of three. Team: Tanmay Mhatre, Zhiyu Liu and Edwin Tan.

The vehicle design is based on the energy stored in the 16 feet rubber band. The process involved a 14 week long iterative prototyping process to develop a fast and stable remote controlled car.

The rubber band propulsion system is driven by a bevel gear assembly for higher stability due to the unpredictable nature of the rubber band.

A disk clutch system was used to control  the winds of the rubber band for higher effeciency
